How to Enable WiFi Tethering without Root on Verizon Nexus 6

admin
Android has always supported WiFi tethering, which allows users to create WiFi hotspot using their Mobile data service. This is useful in many ways, you could imagine how. But Verizon sees it as a violation, and restricts WiFi tethering on all of its devices.

Even the Google Nexus 6 on Verizon is restricted from enabling WiFi tethering. Of course, with root access, you can easily bypass the carrier imposed restriction and get WiFi tethering enabled. But not everyone wishes to root their device.

And luckily for those folks, user Lucky Parker over at xda has a little trick that allows you to enable WiFi tethering on Verizon Nexus 6 without root

How to Enable WiFi Tethering without Root on Verizon Nexus 6

  1. Go to Settings » More » Cellular Networks » Enhanced 4g LTE mode and Turn Off “Enhanced 4g LTE mode”.
  2. Eject your Verizon SIM from the phone.
  3. Configure Hotspot settings and the enable WiFi Hotspot.
  4. Insert the SIM back into the phone.

That’s it. This will enable WiFi tethering on your Verizon Nexus 6.
